PAW PAD
FOSTERING
OBJECTIVE For this project, the objective was to design an identity and branding strategy for a cause/project of our choosing, that would address a current social issue that reflected a passion or interest of ours. The design needed to demonstrate the idea in a clear, compelling, and accessible way.
SOLUTION For my brand, I came up with a company called Paw Pad Fostering. The goal of the company was to help connect people to foster pets at local shelters, to help them become adoptable. With this in mind, a whole slew of ideas of deliverables came to mind that could be associated with such a brand, such as a stationery system, direct mail, and merchandise, like a pet collar and bandana, shirts, mugs, and more! The chosen colors teal and orange help promote the idea of healing and warmth.

BEHIND THE BRAND
When brainstorming the idea of the name, I wanted the name to help portray the same beliefs the logo would and I wanted it to have a unique and fun meaning behind it. With the word “home” in mind, as people would bring these animals into their homes, synonyms were then searched, and the word “pad” was discovered. Then not long after that, the name was discovered, as “pad” is also used in another set of words to describe part of an animal… “paw pad,” the bottom side of some animals’ feet. A shape of a paw print was then made, but to further the additional idea of “home,” an opened door and a heart-shaped window was added. This also then furthered the brand’s motto, “An Open Heart. An Open Home. A LIFE SAVED!” While the final logo can work in large formats, for smaller uses, a tertiary logo was created, taking the door out and making the heart larger and centered in the middle of the main part of the paw.
THE NAME & LOGO
While Paw Pad Fostering would be affiliated with shelters and humane societies, an app would be available for people to sign up to foster an animal. Through the app, the user could search locations that have pets needing foster care, and what types of pets are available nearby. If the user finds an animal that they can accommodate, through the app they can apply to be the foster parent before picking up the animal after verification. The app then can also help keep track of what pets a user has fostered and is currently fostering, as well as help them possibly help find a “fur-ever” home for the pet.
